Lateness runs in the family

We were able to go to a football game on Friday night – Lowell vs. Forest Hills Central (FHC). We live in the Lowell school district, but our church is in the FHC school district. We weren’t sure who to cheer for! But since we met the Sheridans (Kay, Shannon, Shane, and Molly) there, we sat on the FHC side. This is the first football game the kids have ever attended, and they did great!

Our great friends Rusty, Kisha, and Tayler also came to the game. They’re from Lowell, too, but sat with us on the FHC side. Kisha’s baby is due on October 9 – coming soon! I want her to have a boy, but my guess is it’s a girl. (Then again, I’m not a very good guesser, so who knows!)

I was going to post a whole bunch more pictures, but Blogger is being dumb. So, that’s all you get for now.

Other events – Luke spent the rest of the weekend fighting with the front left rotor on his car. Lots of banging / hammering / frustration. He won. Pictures to come.

Also, since I am 1 day past my due date (if you didn’t notice), I had a doctor appointment today. Things are slowly progressing. I’m dilated to 2 and 50% effaced. Who knows what will happen? I could have this baby tomorrow, or it could be stubborn and stay in there until next week sometime. I’m kinda rooting for sooner than next week, but I don’t have a whole lot of control over these things…If you want gorier details that aren’t meant for the Internet, you can call or email me. Otherwise, we’re just waiting. I have another appointment (including a non-stress test to make sure baby’s okay) scheduled for next Monday, and I’m hoping I won’t need it after all.

Hope everybody’s doing well. I’m looking forward to seeing our families soon, when baby arrives. And we’d love to have other visitors in the hospital, too, since it tends to get boring just sitting there all day. Come see us!

Okay, bye for now.

Excited about your news – pretty soon! I can’t believe you took the little ones to a football game. Z & E have never seen one live. What terrible parents we are. Anxious to see the “rest of the story” in pictures of course. Hope you aren’t too disappointed – my boys were always late. Did I say boys?

Ooh, I’m glad you said something about other visitors. Maybe you meant that for your college and church friends, but I’m applying it to other people as well. Unless you say otherwise. Because I thought maybe it’d be cool if Micah came to hang with the fam a little, and I also invited Melch since she drove me all the way up to visit Caleb when he was born. I told her we could make it an annual tradition of going to Michigan every year to see a Rumley baby. So please specify what you mean by “other visitors.”

Shoot, if you’re really that bored, I’ve got 36 others girls on my hall, and you know how much girls love babies! There is no need for you to be lacking company. :)

Love you, Lace! And Luke, Grace, and Caleb…I just felt like Lacey could use the encouragement more at the moment.

    Oh, and Lacey…

I’ve been waiting on tenderhooks for my phone to ring. Every time I wish that it would be ringing when it isn’t, I remember to pray for you and the baby. So just so you know, you two have been prayed for a LOT!

    Love,
    BetZ

The word is “tenterhooks” and we are all on them.

Is there a new baby yet? i was reading all the comments hoping the newest family member has arrived since you wrote this blog… I can’t wait to see pics of the 3 Rumley kids… yay!!

All right, Dad, you win. I looked it up at dictionary.com to make sure you were right. You were.

But, for the record, I like my hooks better tender than tenter. Plus, the word “tenterhooks” means “A hooked nail for securing cloth on a tenter,” which is not what I meant at all.

Still praying for you, Lacey!!! My cell phone is attached to my hip; I can’t wait to get the call!

    Love,
    Betsey

Boo – for your information, definition #2 is the one you were looking for. I had to look it up as well. I guess that man IS smarter than we are.

  12. Erin says:

LACEY!!! how’s it goin’? hope you’re putting your feet up right now and sitting in a jacuzzi or something similar.

i wish i could pop up there just for a bit to see you before the baby comes too, but by the time i can come up there i hope you’ll have had the baby by then.

let’s aim for this sunday, eh? sounds like a good time to me. if it’s after sunday, i may have to wait until after fall break which is next weekend to come up. Anywho, stay comfy and all that jazz. i love you lots.
