Blue skies…and carpets!

It’s a beautiful Monday! We call it “Messy Monday” around here, because our house always seems to get trashed over the weekends. (We must be having too much fun to clean when Daddy’s home!) But (unlike our house) the weather is just gorgeous today, and we were able to enjoy it for a little while before naptime. Hopefully we’ll make it outside again before the day is over.

I’m sorry I’ve been absent from blogging lately. For some reason, I feel like life is a little crazy these days. Base Camp is coming in less than three weeks! But beyond that, it’s just LIFE that keeps me hopping. Maybe it’s the chaos of running after three little kids and trying to keep the house clean. I’m not sure. And I’m not complaining! Just explaining why Blogger is falling off my to-do list lately.

So, speaking of the kids, we had an “incident” today. Oh, goodness, I have to take a deep breath just thinking about it. Here goes…I got some free nail polish yesterday at CVS, so I decided to weed out my current nail polishes that I never use. I put the give-aways in a cluster on my bathroom counter and went about my life. Well, while I was preoccupied, the boy spilled a puddle of bright teal (technically “Blue Marlin”) nail polish on our beige carpet. (Yes, bright blue nail polish. That’s why it was in the give-away pile!) :-) That’s our first encounter with a really bad stain on our carpet. (Our previous experiences have mostly been with chocolate/strawberry milk, and they don’t come out very well either, FYI.)

So, today I am very thankful for Resolve Carpet Cleaner and forgiveness (not just for the culprit, but also for me, because I definitely yelled at Caleb at the very top of my lungs when I discovered the mess).

I have a multitude of pictures to share from the July 4th weekend and from last Thursday, when we visited our friends the Zuidemas at their vacation cottage on Lake Pickerel. We had a wonderful time – relaxing, playing in the water, fishing, eating, laying in the hammock…WONDERFUL. But, I’m too lazy to upload more pictures on dial-up today, so hopefully we’ll catch up soon.

The big news for today is that Dan and Emily are closing on their house today! Yay! I’m so excited for you two!

That’s all for now…I must be productive while the kids are napping! Bye!

Oh Lacey…I feel for you. How many “bloopers” have we gone through – I don’t even want to start counting. In fact, I don’t think I can count that far. I need to take off my shoes – oops, that isn’t even enough. Poor Caleb – just a “boy.” Give him a hug from us and tell him to play with his own toys – NOT MAKEUP! What’s with him and makeup. What a kid. Love you guys. Miss you all! We are considering Base Camp. Want company and free babysitting?

OOOOh, blue nail polish tops whiteout. JC had a fun time with that at one time and it is pretty permanent! I’m glad you and Caleb were able to work it out:) Also, how do you come up with all the poses for your pictures? You are so creative! And such cute subjects to practice on. I enjoy your updates whenever they come along.

Love the video for Base Camp and the website – good work, Luke. We are still thinking about it. E & D are thinking of buying a queen air mattress that we could use in your basement. We will see! The kids would love Base Camp, but our Sports Clinic is at the same time. We’ll let you know soon.

Such a great picture of Grace! Nice job, Lace.

Is it possible to strategically place a rug over the blue spot? I can understand where Caleb is coming from. I was always getting myself into some mess or another. Still am, but Mom doesn´t yell at me as much about them now because when I´m at school I don´t tell her about them. :) Keep on truckin´, Lace! You guys do a great job with those kids; I am always impressed by how well you all love each other as a family.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

    Love,
    Betsey

Got to love the messes! Not that long a go grace took a whole thing of paint and dumped it in the middle of the carpet and then rolled around in it! Hope you guys are doing good. We miss you all and hope to be able to come up sometime this summer! Erik’s new position has been a little crazy and stressful so we haven’t been able to make it up like we would like. We love you all!
