I’ve been a Bzz Agent for a year or so. In that time, I’ve been able to try razors, bug repellent, and baby shampoo and diaper cream. It’s been fun!
Well, my latest “campaign” is for CoverGirl’s new products – ShadowBlast and ShineBlast.
I had honestly never heard of them until I got the email for this campaign. But I’m always up for trying some new makeup!
I will preface this review by saying that I’m just about the least cosmetology-proficient woman in the world. Or at least the US. Meaning – I don’t feel confident choosing new colors of makeup, and once I’ve found makeup and a way to apply it that makes me feel pretty, that’s what I stick with!
So, in the interest of a true review, let’s do some before-and-afters.

This is me sans makeup. I feel like I’ve recently aged about a decade in my looks. I now have bags and wrinkles around my eyes. Oh, the joy.

CoverGirl ShadowBlast has two ends that will supposedly allow you to do such a good job on your own makeup that it looks like a professional makeup artist did it. This is obviously exactly what I need.
First, I think I chose the wrong colors for my skin tone. Definitely. I can’t even remember if I chose the one I got, or if it’s just what they sent me. Either way, I got the white/black one (third from the left).
The rounded end is for covering the entire lid, and the tapered end is for the crease/lashline. It goes on easily and blends pretty well. I really think that it would’ve been a product I loved if I had better colors for my face.
ShadowBlast has a suggested retail price of $7.99, but since it’s a new product, I’m confident it will go on sale and be matched with coupons.

And the ShineBlast…Okay, I love this product. It goes on easily with a chiseled applicator tip, has a wonderful fruity smell, and just the right amount of color. It’s not sticky (which I hate in a lip gloss). The only thing I didn’t like is that it doesn’t stay on as long as I’d like.
CoverGirl ShineBlast has a suggested retail price of $7.49.
And, because I promised, here is the “after,” crazy hair and all…

So, tell me…Have you heard of this? Tried it? Liked it or didn’t like it? I’d love to hear your opinion!
And two randomly chosen commenters will be mailed a coupon for $2 off any CoverGirl product! (Coupon winners chosen Monday, May 17 at noon.)

We just need to sit down and figure out what your colors are. I’ll be glad to help anytime if you are confident in my choices/opinions. You are very pretty- b&w, not your color-scheme.
I don’t put makeup on correct either. I need to see my specialist, Emily. She is amazing! Good job, but you are right, wrong colors. You are gorgeous no matter what color you choose.
Ooo! I like! Maybe a different color would have matched your skin tone better, but I think the make-up looks great! The kiss-goss is especially pretty!

Lacey I have looked at this makeup but wonder if the eyeshadow feels greasy when you have it on? I’m with you I dont like to step out of the box on colors but i have tried a few new colors lately and really enjoy it! I think we need to have a makeup party!! I do like the lip gloss. How long did it last for you?
What about the eyeshadow creasing or caking over time? That’s normally why I shy away from “shiny” eyeshadows, because they tend to cake into lines and look awful after a few hours. What’s your opinion?
I stick with the same colors too…I like green, brown, gold, and other shades of those colors. I would imagine with you, you’re more of the girly colors like purple, rose, etc (and probably blue). If I wear those colors, I seriously look like I have a black eye.
Melissa – The eyeshadow did not feel greasy to me. In fact, it felt pretty dry after applying it. I’ll have to wear the lip gloss again and see how long it lasted, because I have no idea. I just remember thinking I needed to re-apply it a lot. But I did like it!
Erin – I did NOT notice it caking over time, but I know what you mean. I didn’t apply it incredibly thick, but I thought it did a good job of staying put and not creasing or anything…I do think that purple accents the green in my eyes well. I tried a pink-ish eye shadow in junior high (I’m sure I didn’t apply it well), and I got teased endlessly about having “pink eye.” That’s one I’ll never forget!
I love the “kiss-goss.” Emily, you crack me up. I remember Grace always asking me for “kiss-goss.” I thought she was saying necklace.
Bee-uuu-tea-full!!!!!
I LOVE the way the eyeshadow brightens up and highlights your eyes. For us Rumleys with the dark under-eye area, that can be a miraculous change!!! I feel like you and I have similar coloring, and lighter/pastel colors work best on me. Some greens, I can do gray if it’s mixed with a color like pink, purple, or blue. Bright teals, fuschias, and blues can go well with our colors if they’re not too extreme. I don’t know if that helps or not. I’m generally too lazy to bother with makeup.
Love you!
Betsey
You look beautiful!
I love cream eyeshadow (or I guess in this case it is like pencil!) They cover so smooth! And by the way you look wonderful with and without the make-up! I lovethe MOM look!!!!
Makeup? What’s that?
JK. I rarely wear makeup but when I do it’s always the same stuff. I hate spending money on makeup and I have allergies to a lot of make up so it’s hard to find something that really works for me… it’s often that I wear something three or four times and then my skin hates me for doing so… even the hypoallergenic stuff. I am thanking the Lord that I can get away without makeup… I liked your shadowblast stuff… simple. It looked nice.
