Join us at our table

When we built our house four years ago, we made a commitment to hospitality. We recognized that God blessed us with this home, and we want to share it with others. (Not unlike the greatest gift He gave us in the person of His Son, Jesus!)

We love to have people over and get to know them better over a meal.

One part of this commitment that was always slightly embarrassing was our dining room table. The table itself was a garage sale find from Mom Rumley (for what, $1?). And the wooden chairs were technically outdoor chairs that my parents gave us for a wedding shower. So, for over six years, this has been the resting place for our bums during mealtime…

Within the last couple of months, those lovely, plastic, green chairs have joined the madness. Partly because of extra people at our table, and partly because of this unfortunate incident…

We’re SO very thankful that we were recently able to purchase a “real” dining room set! Due to the generosity of my grandma and an anonymous Christmas giver, and some hard-core saving from my grocery budget, we were able to get a much more sturdy, beautiful set!

The table has a leaf that makes it square, seating up to eight people. We purchased 8 chairs, and when the table is smaller (as pictured), some of the chairs can sit at our counter overhang. (The table was just delivered this afternoon, which explains why the seats are still wrapped in plastic!)

Anyone want to come over to sit at our new table? I’ll even throw in a meal if you come at the right time! :-)

When’s dinner? Breakfast? Lunch? We aren’t picky.

That’s a beautiful table:) Jay’s mom has left the plastic covering on her dining table chairs, because it keeps them clean:) (They’re just plain plastic covers, so you can’t really tell until you sit on them and realize “Hmmmm…this feels kinda funny”:)

Congratulations! It looks great! Wish I could stop by for a meal sometime soon. Looks like it will help with family time and hospitality- Enjoy!!!

We did this when we got our first dining room table – on the bottom of the table, write the date you purchased it, and the names of your family members or something to remember the day… On ours we wrote “First Morgan Family Dinner Table” and the date we brought it home. it will always help us to remember the first table we had in our family.

Ooooh, pretty! Just name a day and time and the Rosses will be there to eat with you at the table. ;)

Is that the one you were telling me you “almost” bought when I was last up there? It’s BEAUTIFUL! That’s so exciting! I looooove new furniture…we haven’t actually bought any of it yet ourselves, but someday!

Enjoy, and have some fun entertaining everyone too!

Just pick a day; we’re always hungry. :)

So I supposed I no longer have any motivation to learn how to whittle entire furniture sets? Ah, well. ;) I’m still excited for you!

Can’t wait to come see it in person sometime!

    love,
    Betsey

Ah yes, whittling. You can probably try a different hobby now. :)

I’ll be right over… :) Very nice… we have an old table from Nate’s mom. We had people over tonight and it’s funny sitting around an older, small table, but it’s still fun and a blessing to spend time with friends. I do hope that someday I can enjoy time with you at that table… who knows… ;)

Nice, sis! If you can find a time when I don’t have school and you have food, I’ll be right over! :D
