I must confess, one of the things I like most about taking all four kids to the store with me is the way some people react when they see our little circus in the grocery cart. I absolutely love the older men and women who will stop to ooh and ahh over the kids. Sometimes they’ll talk about how many kids they raised, and sometimes they’ll just say, “Wow, you’re a busy mom!” or something of that variety. But they always say it with a smile. Which, in turn, makes me smile.
“Children are a gift from the Lord…” Psalm 127:3

How do you fit them all into one cart?
Michele – first of all, I love it that you put “the trusty neighbor” alongside your name. It made me smile!
It’s a little crazy getting all four in the cart. At Meijer, we use the “limo” carts – the ones with a bench attached to the front of a regular cart. Usually, Grace and Caleb will sit on the bench, Ava will sit in the cart seat (facing G & C), and I’ll put Jaden’s carseat across the back of the cart. (I usually then pull the cart from the back, instead of pushing like normal, because I want to make sure J stays put!)
At Sam’s Club, they have nifty carts with TWO seats in the front (no bench attached, just a wide regular seat). So, the girls go in the front and the boys go in the back.
No matter where I go shopping, if I put all the kids in the cart, I never have much room for groceries!
You could do the train trick like I used to do. Luke would hold the grocery cart behind the one that the three girls were in. I pulled the two carts from the front while Luke pulled on the last cart. It was quite comical. But, at least I had a full cart for all our groceries and the girls were happy to be in a “train.”
Holy cow. That’s a lot of kids in one little shopping cart. I must admit, I get that way when I take the little doggies for a walk. I love when people stop to say hi and comment on how cute my dogs are. Haha, silly stuff but it makes my day!
Just imagine if your 4 kids were walking my dogs…they’d be the talk of the town! Hahaha!
