Quick check-in

Wow – it’s been a while! I’ve been enjoying this summer with my kiddos, being lazy about blogging AND couponing. I’m sure I’ll need to get back in the saddle, so to speak, soon enough.

But for now, I just wanted to let you know we’re still alive. And we’re in the midst of one of the busiest (and favorite-est) weeks of our year. It’s BASE CAMP week! Woo-hoo!

For those of you who haven’t heard of Base Camp before, it’s our church’s 5-day summer ministry for children, of which I am a co-director.

It has been a joy and privilege to watch the body of Christ work together for a common purpose – to teach children about God’s Word. Although there are 3 of us co-directors, there are around 60 other volunteers from the church who help pull this off!

To be honest, my main job involves planning logistics/theme and writing the curriculum. That pretty much all happened by May. So, this week, I get to stand back and watch it all come together.

I’m happy to report that each person is using the talents that God has gifted him/her with, and it is running beautifully!

And if you visit the Base Camp blog, you can find a picture of Luke with a reverse mohawk.

I bet you’re curious what the heck that is.

It’s worth taking a peek. Definitely.

  1. Yay for the check-in! Base camp looks like a TON of fun for the kids and the grown ups… did Luke really shave his head? That’s awesome!!!

Luke, what a look for you! I don’t think I will show the picture to JC…
Your VBS sounds awesome. What great leaders, etc. I would love to see the material. You going to publish this stuff sometime?

Very cool! I like seeing your Base Camp pics after it’s all done with each year. How many years have you been doing this?? Praying all goes well and everyone involved is blessed!

  4. Lacey, I am so proud of you and all your efforts! It’s great to see how you use your talents for God’s glory. You really would make a great teacher, though you are one now about 24/7, I suppose. It’s also neat to see how awesome Base Camp turned out, with all the multiple other talents that came together to decorate, act, teach, cook, and clean up such a large operation. It looked like it really went well! I know Z & E loved it.

    Very cool, thanks for sharing.
