I recently found this picture, as I was looking through old albums. (Remember pre-digital days when we actually used to – gasp! – PRINT pictures?! Luke actually had to scan it for me!)
It makes me smile.
It’s me with my college roommate, Chaeli, on our way to Midnight Madness. My best guess for a date is October 2002.
That girl and I had some side-splitting, hilarious, fall-down-laughing times in college.
Ah, who doesn’t love a quick stroll down memory lane?

Love.it. This picture makes me smile, too. We had some GREAT times, sista. Two memories that immediately come to mind: me jumping out of bed at 2 am and either a) falling to the floor because my legs were asleep or b) frantic because I thought we missed the meeting. Hahahah. Or the time you feel off the super top bunk on your butt and I had to leave the room I was laughing so hard. Oh man, THANK you for posting this, made my day!
Okay, falling off the top bunk was PAINFUL! I think I had a bruised tooshie for a looooong time!
The one time I remembered was hiding in the top cabinet in our room in Pickitt, and jumping out at you. It’s a distant memory, but I’m pretty sure you were surprised (understatement of the year)!
Or how about getting our picture taken next to the police cruiser by the policeman who pulled you over in Jackson?
If there was one big thing I learned from you, I’d say it’s the value of not taking ourselves too seriously. Being able to laugh at our mistakes. You are so good at that, and I always need to lighten up. Thanks for showing me the value of laughter!
Love you, friend!
Lace- I think I’ve let the stress of living life hinder my ability to laugh at myself sometimes (babies, houses, money, jobs, adult stuff). This is a GOOD reminder for me! And I have to tell you, last night I was lying in bed literally laughing out loud at some of the memories. Here’s one more for you- the time we were in the community bathroom in separate showers and I was telling you about a bible verse I had just read. . . I’m pretty sure the whole hall heard our conversation, SO funny! We’ve learned a lot from each other and I’m thankful for your friendship- now, can you teach me how you mother four children and still keep your head on straight??
The shower conversation makes me laugh. I was so clueless about what you were talking about. By the time I got it, so had EVERYONE else! HA!
Okay, let’s test your memory…Pop quiz: Do the names “Marv” and “Charlie” mean anything to you?
One more random memory – Do you remember when we went to Goodwill and ended up “adopting” the picture of that really old man, because we felt sorry for him because his family sent him to Goodwill? Do you remember what we named him? (And what ever happened to him? Did we send him BACK to Goodwill?)
Fun times…
And who ever said my head is on straight? Sometimes I think I’m teetering on the edge of insanity! I think I might be more fun to be around this way, though! Living on the edge, you know!
Dude, my memory is like the worst ever. Marv and Charlie sound familiar but I can’t remember for the life of me WHY! Fish? Wait, we never had fish, did we??
Ohh yes, I remember the old man, I think he actually ended up in the trash. Poor guy, forsaken once again. Geez, I can’t even remember why I got pulled over by the police!!
Goodness, you must be getting old if you can’t remember Marv and Charlie! Totally kidding – you were right. They were our two STINKY goldfish freshman year that we ended up throwing in the pond because they were so SMELLY. Did I mention that they smelled really BAD?
Aaaaand…You ran a red light. Like really red. But when we got pulled over, all the policeman said was that your headlight was out. Ha! Apparently he either didn’t notice the red light incident, OR he decided to let it go because he thought you were cute. Tee hee.
