Winter blues…

I’m in a funk. A rut. A mood.

I’m tired of winter. I have lived in Michigan all my life, so I figure I really have no right to be tired of winter in February. But I am.

The sunshine was beautiful this past weekend, but even it didn’t pull me out of The Mood.

My poor children. Mommy’s just no fun today.

$24.95 off a $49 purchase at Diapers.com!

This deal has been around for (at least) a year now! And it’s a deal worth repeating, in my humble opinion!

For new customers to diapers.com, you can receive $10 off your order, as well as a $14.95 rebate, and free shipping with orders of $49 or more. Let me tell you how this works!

Place $49 worth of diapers in your cart. There are many brands to choose from – Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, etc. This will qualify you for free shipping.

Enter the referral code CXUP2655 to get $10 off your order. (This also gives me a credit toward my next purchase.)

Then, at the bottom of the shopping cart page, there is a banner ad that says “Parenting subscription included with your first purchase of $15 or more.” Click on that banner and print the rebate form. It’s also available here. Send it in with a copy of your diapers.com receipt. Be sure to keep a copy for your records, just in case. Parenting Magazine will then send you a check for $14.95.

There are MANY scenarios you can do, but here’s what I ended up with my first time around: Pampers Baby Dry Extra Large Case with 252 size 1 diapers (with an automatic $1 coupon from diapers.com) AND Luvs Ultra Leakguard Jumbo Pack with 50 size 2 diapers.

I paid $39.98, with free shipping, and got back $14.95 in a rebate check. That means I got 302 diapers for $25.03 – 8.2 cents/diaper! That’s a steal!

Now go find yourself some cheap diapers!

Little joys

I must confess, one of the things I like most about taking all four kids to the store with me is the way some people react when they see our little circus in the grocery cart. I absolutely love the older men and women who will stop to ooh and ahh over the kids. Sometimes they’ll talk about how many kids they raised, and sometimes they’ll just say, “Wow, you’re a busy mom!” or something of that variety. But they always say it with a smile. Which, in turn, makes me smile.

A Sweet Valentine

During school last week, I asked Grace to write a Valentine’s Day letter to her daddy to practice her cursive handwriting. She decided what it would say and wrote everything herself. I just had to help with some spelling, as well as teaching her some uppercase cursive letters that she didn’t know before. I’m so proud of my 5-year-old for writing this beautiful, thoughtful letter to Luke!

If you can’t quite read it, here’s the translation:
Dear Daddy,
I love you. Happy Valentines Day! You are handsome!
Love,
Grace

And here’s a peek at Grace and Luke when she gave him the letter…

Valentine’s Day is a commercialized marketing ploy (i.e. Hallmark Holiday), but it’s still a good opportunity to teach our kids about showing love to others!
