Just a Joke

A girl in the Grand Rapids area is facing 2+ years in prison for listing her 2-year-old cousin on ebay.

I would like to take this opportunity to say that this post was JUST A JOKE. You can’t have him.

:-P

Let’s Play Catch(up)

The blog posts have been piling up in my head all summer. I take pictures; I think, “I need to blog about this!” And then everything falls to the wayside with swimming, bike rides, and fun with friends. Or just plain laziness, which is a refreshing change from the school year (for now at least).

So, I’m going to try to play the game of catch-up a little bit. There’s no way I can get to everything we missed, but I’ll try to highlight some fun things from the first half of the summer.

Let’s start with a fun picture of who’s keeping me busy this summer…

More to come soon!

Garage sales + six kids = craziness

You might remember that my friend Amber and I spend most Fridays together. Our kids play, we have lunch, we visit, we study a book about marriage, we talk about God’s Word…It’s a fun, fruitful time.

Well, on one of our Fridays, we spent the morning visiting garage sales together. It was quite a feat – buckling six kiddos (ALL in carseats/boosters) into her Suburban! Here’s a picture of all of the little troupers…

We shopped the sales. We got some cheap/free stuff. We had a blast.

I was just excited that we all survived. :-)

One last picture of the kids, when we stopped to let them play for a few minutes…

We are so blessed!

Happy 2nd birthday, Jaden!

On May 29, our baby boy turned 2. My, oh my, how time has flown! For the first time in six and a half years, the Rumley house officially has no babies!

My dear son, Jaden,

We have always said the one word to describe you is “delightful.” You have such sweet smiles and squeezes. Your vocabulary has expanded so much, and you’re now talking in 3-word sentences. (“Go away, bug!”) You love vehicles of any kind, and you make little-boy noises when you drive them around. The only way to get you to sit still for 10 minutes is to put you on a tractor. It has been absolutely delightful to watch you grow and learn.

And sometimes I just want to pull my hair out because of your “busyness.” (That’s really a nice way of calling you naughty.) I probably can’t even list all the ways you’ve gotten into trouble this past year. Playing with the plunger, sucking on markers, eating the tips off markers, drawing on the walls, drawing on yourself, turning on Daddy’s grill so about $15 worth of propane leaked out before we noticed, crossing our really-not-busy-but-sometimes-people-drive-down-here street ALL BY YOURSELF, using toilet gel as a hair styling tool, ripping open packets of Jello powder and instant hot chocolate to lick the powders…Your latest incident involved a bottle of Aunt Alonna’s purple nail polish. Not only did you paint yourself, but you also painted your sister while she slept! She now has a section of purple hair amidst the blonde!

Oh, Jaden.

Someday I’m going to look back and guffaw at your craziness.

Someday.

Like when you’re married and have a child just like yourself. Yep.

But anyway, I digress.

I love you, son, no matter what. You are created in the image of the Almighty God, and my prayer is that you will spend your life trying to glorify and please Him. We will keep disciplining you and keep praying for you and keep squeezing you, and my deepest prayer is that you will become a true man of God. That’s the only true way to delight in life.

Happy second birthday, sweetheart! Daddy and I love you and are so thankful for you!

Mommy

Grandma and Papa’s House

While Luke was enjoying a men’s retreat at Lake Ann Camp, the kids and I took a trip up north to my parents’ house. We had a great time visiting with my mom and dad (Grandma and Papa), my sisters (Melissa and Alonna), and my nephew and niece (Karl and Emma).

Jaden just loves playing with Papa. In fact, on the way to their house, Jaden kept saying that Papa is “cute.” So I told my dad that I figured out why Jaden likes playing with him so much…It’s because Papa is cute and naughty just like Jaden is! :-) No, really, I’m so thankful for my dad!

At Karl and Emma’s t-ball game…Emma was cracking us up when she played 1st base. She thought she had to stand on the base while she threw the ball back to the catcher…A lot of little runners just had to duck out of her way, haha.

Karl on 1st. He did a great job!

Sweet Ava snuggled on my lap at the game. I had dressed us all as if it was summer, and it definitely wasn’t! We were all freezing! Thankfully my ever-prepared and responsible sister had blankets that we used to stay alive.

Jaden and Papa playing on the floor. :-)

I anticipate having many more pictures to share in June, as we celebrate my baby sister Alonna’s high school graduation and subsequent open house! I’m excited to celebrate with her and just spend some more time with my family!
