A view from the last trip, in Greece
We are gearing up to leave our kiddos with my parents (“Grandma” and “Papa”), and I know the kids are really excited to spend time with them. They’ll be running around outside, playing with their cousins, reading with Papa, coloring with Grandma…that sort of thing.
Please pray for my heart to trust that God loves them more than I do and will always do the very best thing. I want to spend these days doing God’s work and not worrying and fretting and crying over my sweet littles. I will definitely miss them…SO MUCH…but I think it needs to be a healthy sort of missing and not an anxious sort.
Please pray that I will not be anxious in anything (Phil. 4:6). Last time, I noticed that night times were much more difficult than daytimes. Because Bulgaria is 7 hours ahead of us here, it would be perfect if you could pray for God’s overwhelming peace for me right when you wake up in the morning. Click here for a better description of what this is like for me.
I hope you hear my heart in this…I so want God’s work to be accomplished, and I don’t want to get in the way of that! I know my weaknesses, so if you could pray for His will to be done, that would be great!
Thanks for all your prayers and support! We’re at 100% of our financial support – Praise GOD! 🙂
Sorry, friends, that I’m very late on posting this verse. I hope you’re following along with this challenge over at She Sparkles.
But, if you haven’t seen it already, here’s the “D” verse for the A-Z challenge:
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2
What a great reminder to bring our praise, worship, confessions, and requests to the ONE who created us!
Stay tuned: Verse “E” is coming early next week!
For those of you who haven’t followed Tammy’s CarePages updates, she passed away quietly on Saturday morning, with “I Can Only Imagine” playing in the background on Pandora. What a fitting song to usher her into our Savior’s presence!
While our church family is grieving our loss, we are not without hope, because we know we will see her again. And we rejoice in knowing that she is with Jesus – truly a much better place than here!
Please continue to pray for our church family to seek God’s glory amidst the pain, for her family (Shirley and Jack) to be comforted as they find their “new normal” without Tammy here, and for the boy who hit her to accept forgiveness (from both the family and, more importantly, Jesus).
Thanks for praying. It’s been a very emotionally exhausting couple of weeks, and we appreciate your prayers!
Things aren’t looking good for Tammy’s longevity on this earth. According to the MRI results yesterday, the damage was extensive and irreversible in critical areas of the brain, and the family is going to honor Tammy’s request (via documents she prepared previously) to not be sustained by a respirator.
In prayer last night, Caleb prayed, “Please help Miss Tammy not to die. Except, if she does, it will be even more fun because she’ll get to be alive with Jesus.”
Now that’s a perspective we can all stand to adopt.
“For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
Tammy with her nieces and nephews
I should have posted this last week, but when something tragic happens, my first thought isn’t “I need to blog about this!”
Last Wednesday, a dear member of our church and our Sunday School class was involved in a moped accident on her way home from AWANA. You can see the brief news article here.
Currently, Tammy is in a coma in the ICU with a major brain injury. Many, many people are just waiting and praying.
Tammy is a single lady, whose mom (Shirley) and brother (Jack) haven’t left the hospital since the accident. Please pray for strength and rest for them.
Tammy is an elementary teacher in the Grand Rapids Public School system. She has affected many, many teachers’ and students’ lives in her years working there. They know she is a devout Christ-follower. Please pray that her testimony in the schools will make a big impact for Christ’s glory.
She is also a long-time member of our church, and a big example of selfless service in the name of Christ. She is our behind-the-scenes AWANA administrator (Need a book? Ask Tammy!), an active member of our Sunday School class, the quiz team leader, and someone who you could count on to share Jesus with others. She loves kids and she has a passion for telling them about Christ. Please pray that our church family will trust in the Lord’s sovereignty and lean into Him for our sustenance while we walk together through this deep valley.
We beg God for Tammy’s complete restoration, and for souls to be saved.
Ultimately, we long for God to be glorified, through this situation and other situations that are breaking hearts in our church family. We want HIM to be lifted high.
